Learning about suitable habitat for red squirrels with a woodland walk

The Volunteer, Engagement and Programme team enjoyed a day at Balmaha learning about the red squirrel wild challenge.

Saw a group of Cubs enjoying our Wild Place on Wednesday after school, climbing trees and playing down at the burn. I stood and watched the open fronted bird box we put up and when I was sure there was no activity I stretched up and took a photograph to see if there was any sign of use. It was great to see a well developed nest there. I'll try and see who is using it, maybe using the trail camera.

For the past two sessions we have been loving conservation work and have planted over 20 trees!

Found these pheasant tail feathers will out walking last night over local farm land.

We also made some bird nest boxes to put up in the woods.
