Group discussion about rules of the forest. We discussed conservation, looking after the environment, appreciation of the environment as well as risks and hazards associated with being outdoors. All of the group were able to discuss ideas and share the rules of the forest.

Students were given the task to hide in the forest within a given perimeter. ALL students were given the opportunity to hide and also to seek. Students were able to identify good areas of the forest in which to hide and understood the instructions given to them regarding what to do if lost / if students couldnt be found. Discussed the need to wear less obvious clothes and how to make it harder for the seeker

Students were given the task to move around the forest and take photos of a range of items that they may come across including berries, different types of leaves, wildlife, bugs etc The students will be collating images over the next couple of sessions and creating a forest gallery to show the rest of the sixth form

The group were given the task to create a piece of art work as a group. The task was to gather items from the forest and lay out on a template to spell FOREST. Students worked well as a group and were able to do some problem solving to complete the template e.g sticks too big / too small etc. Lovely piece of art to add to their gallery.

Prior to the session I hid 30 images around the forest, under logs, up in trees, buried in dirt etc and students had to find all 30. Students managed to find 27 out of the 30 images and had great fun exploring the forest as a group to find them.

Students worked independently with some learning support to collect a wide range of leaves from the forest. They were asked to consider different sizes, shapes and colours to create a basic collage that could again be photographed and used as part of their gallery.

Students were asked to get muddy and create basic hand printing and foot printing as part of their gallery. Students enjoyed the process of making the soil wet and then creating some basic art.

Students were set the task to collect sticks / logs to create a basic teepee style den against one of the trees. Discussion was had about the length and suitability of sticks and sticks involved some basic problem solving
