06/06/22 We continued our explore activities with some bark rubbing and searching for animal homes. We were amazed to find lots of minnows in the river. We asked our local woodland group what they might be. We think there are minnows, loaches and maybe some sticklebacks living in the river.

06/06/22 Today we started our conserve work at the Cover. We read the information given to us by Ross, our local Woodland Trust manager, about lupins and why they are an invasive species at the Cover. We then made our own maps and marked where the lupins were ~ we will use this to help our work with the Woodland Trust next week! We also marked on butterbur leaves (coltsfoot) which is also an invasive species.

16/6/22 We started work on our guided trails today. We are going to make our own maps with at least 5 stops to share with our families. This will include sharing our conservation work, talking about the activities we completed and our work on identifying plants and trees.

Some of us have managed to share our guided walks already and some of us are waiting until the holidays so we can have a long time down at the Cover! Here's some of our family feedback! " Loved hearing about what you learnt! Great guide ~ the drawings are fab!" "Our daughter took us down to the Cover and told us all about her learning. I was impressed with the map she made!"

We looked at changes to the beach over time, how people used the beach in the past and some of the hotels that are now gone.

After a spring full of John Muir adventure, today we received our certificates. It’s been great learning about all the different flowers that bees and other pollinating insects enjoy the most. We look forward to starting the Explorer certificate soon!
