At home this week we ID'd a couple birds from songs we had recorded (Because our recordings aren't always clear these are guesses) these were a Mistle thrush and a curlew. We ID'd the flower - Speedwell.

K and his family are part of the E.C.O. Group at St Peter's PS in Ardrossan. This week the family have been out in their Wild Space exploring trees and identifying them by their leaves. As the topic is now focusing on the Conserve part of the award, K and his family have been busy re-cyclying and discussing the benefits of saving energy.

We organised a food collection for our local foodbank in aid of World Hunger Day. Portlethen Community Larder were delighted with or contributions.

We have been writing Eco Hero stories for our younger Book Buddies. Today the first couple were ready to read. The little ones LOVED them and we feel we were able to share very valuable Eco messages in a fun way.

5.5 miles 12.30-5.30pm. A wonderful sunshiney day! We made our way out of Danebridge along the river Dane, stopping for lunch by the river we saw crayfish, shrimps, a really strange fish and Caddisfly Larvae in the river! Our walk took us up through fields to Hawkslee, climbing then descending again to a clough through Cartlidge Wood and back over more fields. We saw Blackbirds, Wren, Sparrows, Ducks, House Martin, Wagtail and Robin, Mayfiles, Damselflies, Hare, Sycamore, Hawthorn (loads - all out in flower!) Common Alder, Birch, Beech, Oak, Ash, Rowan, Elder, Holly, Bird Cherry, Hazel, Goat Willow, Willow and Apple. At home we ID'd the stitchwort flower and some Herb Robert from photos.

Lots of play in the rain today but no pictures taken ...... so here’s one of our Springwatch fix in the evening!
