The children were each given a blank recycled cardboard box in the shape of a book. They decorated the outside with natural materials and collected natural treasures to put inside. They created their own story using these items as prompts.

12.06.18 - Exploring - As part of our scavenger hunt today we found two very special treasures...birds' eggs. One was a pigeon's egg and was white. The other was found by Callum and Arran and was a blackbird's egg. It was a beautiful blue colour and quite oval in shape. We handled it as little as possible but it was really cool to find and examine. A very special find.

12.06.18 - Exploring - Ranger Greig had organised a cool scavenger hunt for us. Each group got a match box to fill with interesting things, e.g something pink, something with six legs, something soft and somehting special. We found all sorts of interesting and special things including flowers, spittle bugs, leaves and insects. Anything alive we treated with great care and returned to nature after Ranger Greig helped us identify it. We shared our special things af the end. Gemma & Libby found a huge fallen branch which we called Gandalf's Staff.

12.06.18 Exploring - Our next activity today was great fun. We put a blindfold on our partner, spun them around to disorientate them and then led them carefully to a tree. Some of us led them around in circles a bit first! Then we asked our partner to feel, smell and describe the tree we took them to. After a while we took them back to the start, spun them around again and took the blindfold off. Then they had the challenging task of finding the exact tree they had "met." Every one of us managed it - even if it took us a while.

Day 18.

During my trip to Deeside, I spent 2 days helping out with a TMTP volunteer day building a stretch of path through the Clais Fhearnaig Pass. During the days that I helped out I saw much progress being made thanks to the enthusiasm of the volunteers. Unfortunately I couldn't stay for the third day, and haven't been able to see the finalised section of path, but thanks to Rosie, Gus, and the efforts of the volunteers the last stretch of the Clais Fhearnaig Pass is now renewed and ready to withstand hikers and rough upland weather for years to come.
