We have been working with Ranger Greig and have been planting wild flowers such as oxeye daisy. We also did a bio blitz and found a lot of rare and interesting animals. We also built dens and picked lots of Rosebay Willow herb. However, there is still loads of Willow herb left. We also found a frog and Lucy picked up the frog and it pooped on her. Andrew also found a mouse but it ran away. Morven saw a rare Clickbeetle and I caught it so my Mum could identify it. But she couldn’t, so she sent it to an entomologist and we found out that it was the first recording in East Renfrewshire. YEY! We celebrated our achievement by making fires and cooking marshmallows! That was my favourite wild activity all year.

I remember one day Jamie, Jack, Harry, Charlie, Max, Patrick and I made a swing that lifts you up a tree. Later that day we went back out to pick willow herb. I picked loads of it. One other day we taught another class how to do compass work using natural materials. Later on that day we had some free time so we played some tig. Another day we went outside and learned about angles. That was fun. I have really loved going out to the trees. My favourite wild activity this year has been fire building and toasting marshmallows.

My favourite part of the John Muir award was when Ranger Greig came over to our wild place to do activities with us. We expolored our wild area by photography at the start of the year and we have tried to make it a bee friendly wild flower meadow by planting flower that are bee friendly. We were also doing fun activies about nature such as a bio blitz and bat and moth game where there two people are blind folded and they have to catch the human moth. My favourite wild activity all year has been building dens with me friends.

In this picture I’m doing a Bio-Blitz looking for flying insects. We got a butterfly. It was so cool. Also I found a long horned beetle. I found a frog whihc was hard to see in the long grass because it was camouflaged. The whole class did a game called oxygen. This is how it works: First there are five people being a tree and the other person has to fly around them. The leader has to say oxygen and the second person has to find a tree to land on. If they don't find a branch they are out. My favourite wild activity all year has been exploring the wild are in our free time.

For the John Muir Award we have been doing lots of different stuff. We have been picking willow herb for over a month now. We have been doing lots of fun activities with Ranger Greig. We have been planting bee-friendly plants for the bees. The first thing we did for the John Muir Award was that we went to the woods to explore it. The way we explored it was we went to the woods and played hide and seek, it was great fun. Every Tuesday Ranger Greig comes and we do a exiting activities. My favourite wild activity all year has been building fires and toasting marshmallows.

When I was doing stuff for our John Muir Award, I had found lots of different things such as frogs, mice and bees. Some of my favourite things we did were with Ranger Grieg, when we got to plant wildflowers and do a bio-blitz. I liked it when we were blind-folded and had to find a tree after we had touched it . When we had to pick willow herb I kept on stinging myself because there was so many nettles in my way! I had lots of fun doing this and making a fire and roasting marshmallows with Ranger Grieg!

For the John Muir Award we have done many things, but the two biggest things were picking a plant called Rosebay Willow herb and a bioblitz. Rosebay Willow herb is an invasive plant that clears out all the other plants. The second biggest thing that we did was a bio blitz and we looked at different plants and bugs. Morven caught a click beetle that has not been seen in our area before. We all found bluebells which are protected by law because the UK holds 98% of the world’s bluebells. But the two most cool things that we saw in my opinion is cuckoo spit and frogs. My favourite wild activity was building fire and toasting marshmallows.

For the John Muir Award we picked a lot of rosebay willow herb and we found a little frog. Speaking of Willow herb, we talked to other classes and explained it was an invasive species and we need to reduce the numbers to help other plants grow to develop biodiversity. The other classes did a picking competition to see who picked the most. A week ago we were in pairs and one of us were blindfolded and the other one had to guide us to a tree. We had to feel it and identify it and guess which one it was. Anisa and I were partners and after that we got to do a scavenger hunt. We found a pigeon egg and a little froghopper who lives in the cuckoo spit to keep it hydrated. We read a book about Stickeen, John Muir’s friend’s dog and their adventures in Alaska. We were in groups of three and half the class were planting and the other half were doing a bioblitz. Amirah, Anisa and I were planting and our favourite part was watering the plants. Days later our group moved on to the bioblitz where we were finding bees, bugs and more. We found a brown-lipped banded snail. There was cuckoo spit everywhere , on leaves and all over us. We also found a bee mimic hover fly and mice. We have enjoyed the John Muir Award and learned lot’s of new stuff. My favourite wild activity all year has been making a fire.
