One day Alisha A and I found a frog hopper when we looked inside some cuckoo spit. Ranger Greig told us that it sits in the cuckoo spit to keep itself moist and comes out to feed by sucking the leaves. Then it hides back inside the spit. We were planting wild flowers one day and doing a bioblitz too. When we were planting flowers there were lots of worms. Later that day Ranger Greig caught a frog but if she held it for too long it wouldn't like it because it is cold-blooded. We also did a blindfold activity and Alisha A guided me into a tree! Amirah, Alisha A and I caught a brown lipped snail we found near some red clover but the red clover was more pink than red.

My favourite part of the John Muir Award was when we got to plant the wild flowers. It was lots of fun because we knew it was to help the environment. We also started to pick willow herb that was invading our wild area. There is still lots of willow herb to pick but we got all the other classes to help us pick it. We also saw lots of different kinds of bugs including a rare bug that Morven found called a click beetle. We did a bioblitz and it was great fun. I enjoyed doing the John Muir award and I'm excited about getting my certificate.

My favourite part of going out to The Trees is that I get to help nature and I got to hold a frog. We did a bioblitz by catching bugs with a net and I caught lots and lots of green flies. Also when we went outside Jia Yi got cuckoo spit on her. A frog hopper was in it and it was so cute. We have also got to plant wild flowers which I loved. Also my friend and I caught a green-veined butterfly that was epic.

My favourite part was doing the Bio-Blitz with Ranger Greig. Callum, Aedan and I found a frog while finding other stuff including centipedes, snails, slugs and my favourite the very shiny rose chafer, best find ever. We did other stuff but this was the BEST!

We have been at the trees the most out of the whole school and if you add all the hours we have been at the trees it would end up being a day or two. At the end of the day all we can think about is willow herb because that is what we do the most. My favourite activity has been pulling people up a huge tree on a rope hoist. I thought it was like a lift but only it was all of us pulling people up and down. We have done den building, hide and seek, competitions, bio blitz, willow herb picking and the rope lift. To celebrate achieving the award we toasted marshmallows and made a fire.

Over the year our class have been going to our wild place we call The Trees. We go to the trees a lot and when we go do fun activities like hidey tig, picking willow herb, den building and outdoor learning. When we do den building, Arran, Murray, Shreyas, Andrew and I make a den but it always gets broken. I like to climb the trees and go on a rope swing. Right now we have been going to the trees with Arran’s Mum Ranger Greig to do a bioblitz, do games, pick willow herb, building fires and roasting marshmallows. We are going for the John Muir award.

This year we have been doing the John Muir Award and Ranger Greig has been helping us with a bio blitz. The bio blitz includes bug catching and we also did flower planting. We have been planting wild flowers and picking willow herb. Willow herb is a native flower which is spreading a lot around our wild area so we are picking them and planting more wild flowers so we can have more bees and biodiversity in our area. I am looking forward to accomplishing the John Muir Award.

We did lots of things for the John Muir Award. I did planting, picking willow herb, finding insects/bugs and a blind fold game. We’ve been picking willow herb nearly every day. We have to get the roots out otherwise the willow herb will grow again. We are picking it for biodiversity to give other plants like bluebells space to grow. For planting I planted wild flowers for the bees. We did a game with Ranger Greig called The Blind fold game. We also did an oxygen game as well. Ranger Greig told us a story about John Muir.
