We talked about the structures at the nature reserve that helped the animals such as bird boxes, kingfisher perches, owl perches and dragonfly perches. We all cut some hazel to make perches and made a bird box each to hang on the new barn and on trees around the reserve. We did a quiz on what we had learnt over the year and all did really well! It has been a great year and really enjoyable and learnt a lot.

Our last green space to be visited today is a memorial garden we have in the school. The children are really keen to get in here and clear some of the weeds out.

We visited our third green space and this is an area that is going to have a pond installed and will also be a space where we do lots of growing.

We also visited Herons Forest our 'forest school' area and thought about what was different here to the big field.

Today was our first session - our wild space is our school grounds to help make the experience more meaningful for our students. This is our big field and the children were asked to go and investigate it and see what they could find.

Great fun was had and the group now have a massive sense of achievement after planting 30+ trees on The Ecology Centre site. These trees form part of a wider "re-wilding" project and will boost an ever developing tree lined grassland with native wildflowers and shrubs.

Something new to me a Saturday mornning geo cashing.

Trip 1 was finding some of our local greenspaces. We visited our local beach, Queen St Nature Reserve, Broughty Ferry Local Nature Reserve, Shiell St Community Garden and the Rock Garden.
