17/7/23 (30mins) a brief walk along the Union Canal from Port Buchan in Broxburn to Bridge 27, about 2km there and back. Busy moorhen collecting reeds , bindweed (convolvulus? morning glory?) and a pink flower which must surely be related to the two willowherbs I already know about, plus meadowsweet, marsh woundwort and a goldcrest singing in a bush.

Most people know rosebay willowherb, the tall pink wildflower (weed) with fluffy seedheads in August, but I recently noticed some tiny pink flowers among the nettles up at Beechbrae, which are also a type of willowherb.

Our Gold D of E Residential groups are having a lot of fun discovering the wildlife in and around our site. We have a heard of deer that are regularly seen on site, as well as rabbits, hares, badgers, foxes, red kites, buzzards and Great Crested Newts

We used Plaster of Paris to take moulds of deer footprints
