It was a pleasure to be invited back to The Hidden Gardens in Glasgow to see how the garden has changed with the shift in Seasons. With the sun shining we made our way into the garden through The Tramway Theatre and were greeted by the wonderful Hidden Gardens Gardener Rhona. For some of us this was our first visit to the gardens and the look of amazement on their faces as the bustling city streets dissolved into this green pocket of nature was great to see.

Without being prompted we automatically carried on our shapes and colours learning theme from the previous week and were taken aback at how much the garden had changed from our autumnal visit. Bright colours burst into view as shades of green camouflaged the brick walls and industrial past of the garden. Rhona from The Hidden Gardens eased us into the day as we looked at textures and savored the smells of the Lavender Borders. Rhona showed us the Alliums that lay in wait ready to burst into the Summer Sun like Sparklers Caught in a Moment!! We listened to Rhona talk about the different pollinators within the garden and the jobs that they each have. And talking of jobs well there were a few for us as well.....

We went to the work area of the garden and were immediately deep in the days tasks. Taking Cuttings and potting them up, sowing seeds, using composts and small tools and then watering and ensuring that every plant had a drink. As always we worked as a team with Rhona dividing up our duties and setting us to work. It was a great space to work in although the sun had drifted into a far corner of the garden. But still we worked with dirty hands, laughter and smiles all around - and that was just the Support Staff who were fantastic as always. Much too early came the time to 'clock out' as the shadow from the towering iron girdled chimney whispered 'Time to Go'!!

A Massive Thank you once again to The Hidden Gardens Glasgow (Amanda and Andrea) for allowing us to accompany them once more on another Outdoor Learning Adventure!!! To Rhona thank you for your Effort, Time and Care which is genuinely appreciated. There is so much that we have been unable to show you and we are sure that we will be back soon to see this incredible garden grow as it the summer begins to creep towards us!! Discovered a great new wild place today, just 2 minutes of the busy M6. Over 250 acres of nature reserve, the ability to walk along the River Ribble and listen to the hearting collection of birdsongs. The STS Education Team spent time walking around the reserve discussing and action planning Functional Skills delivery, Additional Learning Support for apprentices and how we are going to continue to discover other wild places when we are having team meetings. https://www.brockholes.org/visit
