This week we were taking pictures of signs of Autumn. Pictures of things we found in the woods like bugs, fungi, and mushrooms. We took pictures of them on our ipads and we worked in groups to find them, it was really fun looking under rocks and under sticks. The biggest sign of Autumn was the colourful leaves on the ground.

Lead walk learning about the Fallow deer at Petworth, we were privileged to watched an extended rut going on also the other nature around such as the meadow yellow ants and the acid grass that is so tasty to the deer.

Selection of mushroom we spot and stop to see, we identify them on the seek app.

Lots to see on this walk, Cows, fungi, Dogs, weeping bark it was interesting to see the difference to the area after doing a walk there in the summer. Again the seek app came in handy

After our amazing deer rut walk me and another mum lead a second walk at Petworth to allow more time to see the deer in action, we shared what we learnt and made information sheets from the deer society web site very useful. We discovered so much more in the land this time but only got to hear a rut rather than see one in action.

Over the course of a couple of weeks we have slowly been adding to our John Muir canvas that is hanging in the Rackham Hall for all to see. Can’t wait to see the finished product and a deer inspired face paint from our Rut walk

SSS Group 4 discover Winspit Quarry on the Isle of Purbeck. Learning about it's history and that it is an area of conservation for the Mouse eared and Horseshoe bats.
