We explored many Wild spaces today to survey which pollinators may be buzzing around and their habitats. We explored Meadows, managed areas, woodlands and dell's. Look what we found!!!!

We watched the smoking fire and chatted about how the trapped sunlight energy was being burnt from the logs and twigs .... the charcoal tinned released the moisture and provided us with natural drawing materials and even a pine cone.

Today we enjoyed the the shade of the woodland as we explored together and giggled as much as we discovered in our wild spaces. We recorded beautiful textures from the woodland in handmade clay tiles and enjoyed the process of making charcoal from willow, sticks and even pine cones.

Finally getting around to it...! I feel so happy remembering how I spent my holiday completing my first John Muir Award, this time last year.

We cleared the bracken by bashing it with sticks. The route we cleared runs alongside an infamous famine wall, built by the starving poor of the area during the Potato Famine, in return for meagre money and food rations. The route is cleared each year to preserve access along the route, particularly for a guided walk run each August.
