Two days spent on Claddau estuary in national park. Paddle boarding, dinghy sailing by Llanion and coasteering on Lydstep area.

Explorer group spent several weeks helping head gardener with various tasks. Including gathering tree seeds. Collected beach nuts, rosehips, conkers, pulled up ash seedlings and put these into raised beds for growing over winter. Also helped in the meadow area with cutting back bamboo and reeds by stream.

Walk to Wisemans Bridge through rocky shore line. Mussels and limpets. Several types of seaweed including channel wrack,ulva lactua ,lomentaria articulate. Beadlet anemones in several pools . Barnacles and a few small fish in larger rockpools. Barrel jellyfish on shoreline today.

Walk around property. Explored through Stackpole Court. Looked at site where house stood until knocked down in 1963. Saw swans and cygnets at green arched bridge and lilies over the ponds. Explored church at Bosherton and South Broad Haven beach. Over the top to Barafundle and walked towards Grenalda? an iron aged fort the back to blue bell woods and to the court. Looked at caterpillars etc . Listened to skylarks and coughs on the headland.Learnt about geological fault at Stackpole Quay between sandstone and limestone.

Helped to dismantle the old woven fence at camley street national park. Using the hazel and posts we then created new fencing bordering the path.

Ancient woodland indicator species survey in Sydenham Hill Woods. It was the end of Bluebell season but there was still plenty to count! Also found some mushrooms!

Hutchinsons bank chalk grasslands are extremely diverse and can hold up to 30 plant species per m2. We identified plant species across the scrape and non scrape to monitor the conservation management technique. The scrape hopes to reduce top soil exposing chalk ground instead to encourage more species. Various butterfly species including the small blue depend on the grassland flowers to lay their eggs. In the picture you can see some small eggs laid on a flower!

These are small red damselflies laying eggs in the water. For the survey we were carrying out, we stood by the water and recorded the damselflies we could see in 10 minute time slots. The data was then uploaded onto GiGL to contribute to a wider data collection initiative.
