19.06.18 Responsible Fire Building
-
19.06.18 Exploring & Conserving - After learning about safe fire building we worked in pairs to build a fire of our own. We lit it on a slate to protect the grass and had water close at hand in case the grass caught fire. We used potato peelers to peel shavings off pieces of dry wood and we also used cotton wool and last year's willow herb stalks. We used flint and steel to get a spark to start our fire. There was great excitement as we all started and fed our fires. At the end we extinguished them with water to keep our wild area safe. What an exciting achievement.
