A Dusk Walk in Leasgarry Woods
-
My family and I ambled down to the woods. When I was going I saw a Heron flying, I think it was going home to sleep. When we got to the woods it was about 8 o'clock. Close to the entrance there were two nesting crows cawing in a tree high up. We went looking for animal holes. We found a couple of different sized ones. We went to see the den we were building a previous day. It looked super cool in the twilight. Then we went to a large tree that was good for exploring and Shannon my sister climbed up it. Then we walked along the path and me and shannon pretended we were jaguars and startled our mum along the top of the woody bit with tall pine trees just off the path. It was fun. Mummy had found lots of strange looking fungi growing on a tree log, it was very interesting. We looked in a hollow tree log with a large slit down its side with our torch and there was a MASSIVE spider hanging from its web. There were some woodlice under a log that looked a bit creepy . We had to use torches to see things which was good as it gave a different perspective on the woods when there is only a small amount of lit up space that you can see. It made you see things you would never see in the daylight. When we were coming out of the woods, there was a satellite up in the dark sky, it went really fast, it was cool. We saw two different constellations:
. . . .
. . . . .
. . .
These two are the Big Dipper and Orion. I think it was really fun and there were lots of different trees, bugs and other things.
