Treverbyn Community Trust - Our Fourth Family Walk
-
Another brilliant Family Walk/Adventure on Friday 24th March 2023. Despite the forecast we were blessed with blue skies and sunshine. Many of us travelled by train to St Ives, on one of the most scenic train journeys in Britain. Once on Porthminster Beach we were met by Tom Crawford, from the Marine Conservation Society, who led us in a beach clean. Not only did we clear 4.5kg of litter from the beach, we also recorded each piece of litter we collected. This helps MCS track the litter back to its source and also campaign for change. We then took part in the Big Microplastics Survey, another Citizen Science Project that gives vital data on microplastic pollution in the UK.
After lunch on the beach, we chatted, we strolled, we created sandcastles, we splashed around in the surf and we played games.
Thank you to Tom Crawford for organising the beach clean, and to everyone who came and made the day so special.
