Planting wildflower seeds
-
We used a planting spear to clear the ground. We pulled the weeds out, then scraped the ground to leave a clear area for planting yellow rattle. This is a parasitic plant that needs grass to live off, but will eventually kill the grass. Why do we do this? We want to plant more wildflowers, and they need bare ground to colonise. So next year we will have patches of yellow rattle, and then more wildflowers will move into the bare patches. This will give a meadow feel.
