John Muir and his legacy
-
John Muir lived a very worthwhile life. Some of his most important realisations came about through his relationship with animals. He said that humans and animals are true companions on this earth. He started the National Park movement. Even though he died in 1914, the impact of his life and work is that from 1919 America, and then Britain have preserved wild places to protect forests, mountains, nature and the environment for the benefit of both human and non-human life. He said that beauty is necessary as well as bread. John Muir needs us now to continue his work, to help the environment.
