Research: Thames Water partners with local councils to improve surface
-
Thames Water partnered up with five councils to reduce flooding risks within the Thames Area
Sustainable solutions for drainage have been looked at for example: rain gardens and green spaces to temporarily store rain water from a time when rainwater might have been heavy, mimicking the way nature absorbs rain from the ground or slowing its journey to drains.
This improves the local environment, reduces air pollution and helps biodiversity as well as reducing flood risks within the area. Through partnerships (made with many other councils), Thames Water and the councils will look to install these solutions on council land.
